I am obsessed with summer sewing and I LOVE this flowing summer shirt. This is See & Sew B6439 View B. I made it in a rayon challis and it drapes beautifully. As a matter of fact, one of the first things I said to a co-worker was, I love this shirt! I haven’t had to hold in my stomach all day! It’s the little things. πŸ™‚

Flowing Summer Shirt

This material is fantastic. It is breathable and requires almost no ironing after you take it out of the dryer. The collar and front v-neck facing are really the only areas that need it. They can look a little shriveled after drying. I believe I picked this up at Joann’s in the red tag section.

For me, the hardest part about this pattern was the cutting and collar. I needed a space bigger than my cutting table, so the living room floor it was. Enter the cat helper. Yes, I had to take gratuitous cat photos. These were taken before he decided to be a pattern weight. He loves the sound the pattern makes when he walks across it. Weirdo.

Anyway, the collar was super difficult for me for some reason. I couldn’t seem to get it straight or centered and had to do it twice. I ended up using invisible thread to hide the fact that I had two rows of stitching when there should have only been one. Invisible thread is hard to use because it gets tangled so much at the spool once it’s on the machine. That created it’s own problem. But I digress….

Even given the issues, I’ve worn this twice already, because I love it so much. Every wardrobe needs a flowing summer shirt like this. It looks so classy with a cream colored skirt, but could easily be dressed down with a pair of jean shorts or white capris. I also got to use my new labels from The Dutch Label Shop. They turned out just beautiful, and I’m so in love with them. I’ll definitely be ordering more of them in different colors.

Happy sewing!
