Argyle Sweater Fleece Dress
A few weeks ago when I was up at Joann’s combing through the knits, I passed by this fuschia argyle sweater fleece. I don’t normally buy something so bright and argyle is not my favorite, but it was 50 percent off and I had another 20 percent off coupon. I ended up getting three yards at $6.00 each. Not bad for such a thick sweater fleece. I went to my go to sweater dress pattern, Lekala No. 5945. It’s super easy and usually makes any fabric look good.
The pattern itself is literally front, back, neck, and sleeves. All I used on this dress were my serger and coverstitch machines. After cutting the pattern, you stitch the shoulder seams, sew the sleeves in flat, and then sew one long seam on each side from the sleeve edges to the bottom hem. Then stitch the edges of the neck, insert and stitch neck to the dress, and then hem everything. I used the serger for all seams and the coverstitch for all hems. Normally I can make one of these in less than an hour, including pressing, but I’ve been sick so it took much longer. A serger and dizziness do not mix well. There were a lot of breaks. 🙂 In any event, it will look nice with my gray booties. And for $18.00 plus tax, that’s not too shabby.
