Plaid Wool Cape

Plaid Wool Cape

If you can’t tell, I’m REALLY trying to decrease my fabric stash. But I can honestly say, I freaking love this plaid wool cape. To me, this thing just screams jeans and a matching purse.

Plaid Wool Cape

I’m not going to lie, I wanted to jab my scissors in my eyes while I was making it. If I wasn’t already drinking wine, I would have gone to get some. This was the most loosely woven fabric I have ever worked with. While it was going through the serger, it was everywhere…in my eyes, in my mouth, it was completely ridiculous. Here are some in-process shots. As you can see, I’ll be cleaning this up for days. Halfway through, I took a brush to my main machine, but I’ll have to do it again tomorrow.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this until I started to press it. Once I started steaming the fabric, it turned incredibly soft. Once I had it on the form, I absolutely loved it. I can see me wearing this with jeans or a black dress. This is going to be one of those pieces that is so versatile and I’ll wear it for years.

Cheers to you all, another project complete. 🙂
