These robe hooks are one of those weird thrift store things that you’re not completely sure will end well. One Saturday I was walking around the Goodwill store and I came across this odd looking piece of decorative wood. Someone had obviously bought it pre-cut at Lowes or Home Depot. They then engraved the letter “G” on it (presumably an initial) and painted the engraved portion blue. This strange metal shelf thingy was then added, along with L-shaped hooks. I figured I could do something with it, so for $2.00, I grabbed it. Turns out it was 75% off or something, so I basically got it for nothing.

I pulled off the metal shelf, which really took some doing. These was both swearing and wine involved. I removed the hooks next. After filling in the engraved portion as best I could and the hook holes, I let it dry for a few days. One night after work, I sanded and painted it with black chalk paint. The next day I stenciled and waxed and put new, regular hooks in. The following weekend, I hung it on the back of my bedroom door. I think it’s pretty cute for $1.50.

As always, cheers πŸ™‚
