I’m going to work a little backwards here with this metal thrifted wall hanging. I’ve been posting my projects on Facebook, but not really updating my blogs. So I’m going to start with the most recent, and work my way back until I am caught up.

I was at Hobby Lobby on my birthday and fell in love with this giant metal wall hanging. I’m totally obsessed with Fixer Upper and Joanna is forever hanging the craziest things on the walls of the homes she decorates. The super-expensive metal hanging I found reminded me of something she did. Unfortunately, I can’t afford that right now. So in the meantime, I stopped in to my favorite Goodwill store and picked up this metal thingy and two weird pictures. You never know what you will find at the Goodwill store. Some of the items have tags and are brand new, and others are handmade items. It is definitely never boring!

I pulled the art out of the frames and ditched it. I think one of them was actually someone’s vacation picture! lol Anyway, I cleaned everything really good. Then I did some dry brushing with chalk paint over the wood frame. The other one, I left as is. I grabbed some black ribbon and some odds and ends a friend at work gave me. I painted a gold star ornament with chalk paint and then distressed it to reveal some of the gold. I hung that in the middle of the wood frame, and then the both of them from the metal frame. Then I put the second frame in the basket along with some dried flowers and pine cones. Then hung the whole thing on the wall. Kind of pictures within pictures. I love it, and it will definitely work until I can get my hands on that sweet, yet super-expensive metal hanging at Hobby Lobby….or until I change my mind again and make something else to fill that space. 🙂
