Beautiful Chalk Paint Piano Bench

Insomnia has kind of taken over my life. During the week for work, I try and take Ambien if I have enough sleep time. But I skip it on the weekends. I’ve heard it can be habit-forming and definitely do not want that to happen. So, when I can’t sleep on the weekends, I paint. I canโ€™t really sew because a couple of my machines are pretty loud and my studio is in the room next to my daughter’s. To do something quiet instead of lying in bed stressing about not sleeping, I pull out whatever recent treasurer I picked up at the local Goodwill Store. This past weekend, I scored big. I found a beautiful wood piano bench. It was pretty scuffed and missing some of the hardware, but I loved it. And for $6.00, I loved it even more.

I used Grotto for the base and legs and Rich Black for the top. Then I tinted clear wax with java and used that over all of it. I buffed the legs and base with a soft cloth, but before I did that on the top, I used 000 steel wool in the direction of the brush strokes. It is sooooo smooth. I love it. Then I buffed as usual. For the interior, I used liquid starch on a piece of black and white polka dot fabric I had left over from the window shade. So happy I picked this up. ๐Ÿ™‚
