I cannot get enough Christmas this year. Earlier this week, I gave my Christmas door wreath a little update. My family in Texas sent me a beautiful fresh wreath for my front door. It made the wreath on my side door look quite sad. I grabbed it up, and with a little help from some spray paint and Dollar General, all is well. 🙂
What you’ll need
- Old, sad looking wreath (this can be a Christmas door wreath or any wreath you’re not that attached to)
- Any kind of white spray paint
- Glue gun
- Small, cheap ornaments
- Fancy ribbon
- Craft or any type of flexible wire
- Batter powered LED lights
- Wine (or any beverage you can drink out of a wine glass if you’re old like me and can’t get up for work when you drink on a week night)
Getting Started
If you need to, disassemble your old, sad-looking wreath. In my case, I simply removed the red bow. There were no other decorations adorning the poor thing. The next step is to spray the heck out of it with whatever spray paint you have around. I used Rustoleum primer left over from my pegboards. This is to simulate a frost or snow-covered look. I could have used spray snow, but it comes off entirely too easy and I didn’t want the cat to eat it. Let dry while consuming wine or other beverage.
Next, grab your sparkly ribbon. I am by no means a great bow maker, but I can read directions like nobody’s business. My fancy Dollar General ribbon had the directions for making the bow on one side. Extremely helpful. I did that and attached my bow with some beading wire.
Once your bow is in place, get out your handy dandy glue gun. Glue a bunch of ornaments to the wreath. Mine were pretty small, and I didn’t have all that many. After three or four, I would step back and check the pattern. Silver seems to be my theme this year.
Finally, weave your batter-powered LED lights around your wreath. Add your batteries and step back to admire your awesomeness. Oh, and celebrate with wine-type beverage. 😉
