Printed Burlap Throw Pillows

Here is a quick sewing project from two weeks ago. I’m finding I have this love of all things rustic and/or shabby chic. These printed burlap throw pillows fit in perfectly. In addition, it pulled in the green I somehow ended up with in the room. I love these though. They are large enough to be layered and still show the print.

Burlap is a little stiff to use for envelope-type covers, so I literally sewed these around the forms. I normally make my own, but these were 18-inch forms half off at Joanns. It was too good of a deal to pass up.

Since the forms are 18 inches, I cut the four burlap pieces at 21 inches. That gave plenty of room for seams, since it is a stiffer fabric. I sewed three of the sides, right sides together, turned it, put in the form, and then folded the fourth seam in, and stitched along the edge. It really only took a half hour, 45 minutes tops.
